Sweeping is usually
A good thing—it cleanses
And renews. We sweep crackers
Fallen on the floor, leaves crumbling
On the driveway. We even sweep
Gangs, drugs, and crimes away
From our streets. But
We should never
Sweep students to or from
Our schools—we help
Them to get up earlier,
Get to class on time,
And succeed.
A student, after all, is not
A floor, nor
A fallen
Crumb.
