Long lines at the elections booths
Last night.
Decided to detour to the gym
And sweat out the day’s tension.
On the way back,
The lines had doubled.
Driven by the twin threads
Of hope and fear,
People stood for hours
To cast their votes.
Today starts out cold;
Fog hugs the ground.
Country roads
Have to be negotiated slowly.
But forecast calls for 85 degrees
And a warmer day ahead.
